Our Story
The Birth of a Dream: “First Step”… Where Passion Meets Excellence
The creation of First Step Center was never just a passing idea—it was a spark born from boundless passion, from hearts devoted to children, and from a deep desire to create meaningful change. It was a meeting of vision and ambition, of dedication and innovation, between two individuals united by one goal: to offer the best—without exception.
The Beginning: Challenges Fueled by Unstoppable Passion
The journey began with Shatha Al-Attiyat, Program Manager and Autism Specialist, who spent years working in various centers, dedicating her life to children with developmental needs. She consistently strived to improve what was lacking, always searching for creative solutions and better approaches. But the path was not easy, and at times, she felt the burden of trying to achieve so much on her own.
Then came the moment that changed everything.
She crossed paths with Mr. Ali Khader, CEO of the center—a businessman with a sharp vision and unwavering belief that success lies not in routine services, but in excellence, uniqueness, and purpose. He was driven by the idea of building something lasting—something with a clear, meaningful impact. When his strategic vision met Shatha’s heartfelt passion, the dream found its foundation.
From Vision to Reality: A Message, Not Just a Center
Together, they began shaping what would become First Step. Their conversations, ideas, and shared purpose laid the groundwork for a center that would be more than just a facility—it would be a safe haven and supportive environment for children with autism and developmental disorders. A place where families find hope, and children are empowered to thrive.
In 2019, that dream began to take shape.
They opened a modest center—small in size, but immense in ambition. Every corner reflected their care and commitment. A dedicated, highly trained team was assembled, each member holding a deep belief in the center’s mission. Every challenge they faced was another step toward fulfilling the vision they had built together.
A Journey of Growth… Through Challenges and Triumphs
The road wasn’t easy. Their journey was filled with long nights, relentless effort, and unwavering dedication. Just as they were preparing for a strong launch, they faced a global crisis—the COVID-19 pandemic.
Opening during one of the most difficult times the world has seen brought unexpected obstacles. With lockdowns, restricted mobility, and operational delays, the odds were against them. But they held onto their mission—because now, more than ever, children needed support, and families needed hope.
Adapting quickly, they implemented strict health protocols, restructured operations, and ensured services could continue safely. It wasn’t easy—but their passion was stronger than the storm. Their belief in the impact they were making kept them going.
From Small Beginnings to Leading Success
Over time, First Step evolved—growing from a humble idea into a pioneering center, now recognized as the largest and most distinguished center of its kind in Kuwait. Their growth has been powered by dedication, resilience, and a love for what they do.
And the Story Continues…
But this is not the end.
The passion still burns, and the ambition continues to grow. New chapters are being written—new children to support, new families to uplift, and new milestones to reach.
First Step was never just a first step—it was the beginning of a lifelong journey of hope, compassion, and impact.
Our Vision
Our vision is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves access to the highest quality care, personalized attention, and innovative solutions. With a commitment to leading the way in rehabilitation services, we have created an organized environment that brings together a multidisciplinary team, including behavior analysts, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and psychologists.
Through this collaborative approach, we aim to provide applied behavior analysis (ABA) grounded in scientific principles for effective intervention, while enhancing the functional skills that allow children to become self-reliant in their daily activities at home, at school, and within the community.
Additionally, we are dedicated to offering effective, organized methods to help children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) develop at a faster pace, in alignment with their individual needs.
