Occupational therapy Assessment
At First Step, we offer an integrated occupational therapy assessment that evaluates how a child interacts with his environment by examining motor, cognitive, sensory, and daily living skills. This helps design an effective therapy plan that supports the child's independence and overall development.
What does the assessment include?
Initial Information Gathering
Parent interview to understand behavior and sensory responses
Review of medical history and developmental milestones
Observation in a Sensory-Rich Environment
Assessment of fine and gross motor skills
Evaluation of cognitive abilities, attention, and focus
Monitoring reactions to sensory input (touch, balance, sound, smell, taste, vision, proprioception)
Standardized Sensory Tests
Questionnaires and tools to measure sensory over- or under-responsiveness
Observing the child in interactive activities within a sensory room
Evaluation of Daily Living Skills
Eating (picky eating, utensil use)
Dressing (independently wear and remove clothes)
Personal hygiene and bathing (tooth brushing, showering, toileting)
Functional and group play behavior

45 minutes, depending on the child’s condition and interaction level
Previous reports or observations are helpful for better accuracy
